1. The band released their debut album Blow in July Initially compared with Cocteau Twins and My Bloody Valentine, the band remixed the Blow album to break down the John Fryer production, creating the limited edition follow-up release Blowback. After relationships with 4AD broke down, Swallow began writing and recording at home.

3. My CD purchases for August of '92 netted me His Name is Alive's re-issued "Livonia", Pale Saints' "In Ribbons", and Swallow's only full-length release. For the next several weeks they seemd to be the only discs I listened to, "Blow" no less than the others. For some reason, this band gets pegged as a lightweight version of the Cocteau Twins.

Any early-'90s 4AD release is bound to have certain Cocteau Twins qualities, and Blow is no exception -- unfortunately, Swallow's vaguely danceable grooves add about three cups of water for every cup of pure art-rock influence, and the album comes across as a dated exercise in marginal blissfulness. There's a certain pop appeal to the album's tracks, and it probably won't disappoint those who.

7. Nov 25,  · referencing Blow, CD, Album, CAD CD This is not a noise release, to say the least. Mostly, the album imitates the Cocteau Twins, adding occasional touches of shoegazer distortion to pop songs that are sometimes melancholy, sometimes playful, but generally downbeat/5().
